Minerva: Roman Goddess
Minerva (Etruscan: Menrva) was the Roman goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy.
She was born with weapons from the godhead of Jupiter. From the 2nd century BC onwards, the Romans equated her with the Greek goddess Athena, one of the three Roman deities in the Capitoline Triad, along with Jupiter and Juno.
Minerva was the virgin goddess of music, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, crafts, and magic. She is often depicted with her sacred creature, an owl usually named as the “owl of Minerva”, which symbolises that she is connected to wisdom and knowledge. She is commonly depicted as tall with an athletic and muscular build, as well as wearing armour and carrying a spear. As the most important Roman goddess, she is highly revered, honoured, and respected.
For this reason, we chose Minerva as the name for Minerva Elite Performance, to symbolise the wisdom and knowledge we impart on our students who study with us.
